Hi, Crew members.
I spent the weekend feeling awful about the world, while pretending to be perfectly fine engaging in various Christmas activities with the Mini-Pirate: ice skating, hot chocolate drinking, gift shopping, Grinch watching. I spent the whole time being overly protective of my daughter when she strayed more than three feet away ("I don't CARE if you have to go use the bathroom! Stay here and snuggle with me!")
Couldn't help it.
There's so much being written today about the tragedy in Connecticut. Many of my favorite bloggers are adding their voices to a painful conversation. I did too. It's on Babble this morning. There's not much there in the way of wisdom or comfort, or political awareness. All I did was write about the day I had on Friday, a day in which absolutely nothing unusual happened. Except for one terrible, terrible awful thing on the other side of the country.
You can read it here.
